Our Team

Our team is made up of the section leaders and a group of parent volunteers who form the Stroud Valley Scout Group Committee:

Group Scout Leader – Aaron Young and Sammy Peters

Chair – Philip Cowpland

Treasurer – Kim Strudwick

Secretary – Karl Durr-Sorensen

Bookings – Gareth Thackeray

Other Committee Members – Anne-Marie Delrosa, Luke Inder, Kerry Smith.

We need volunteers for our committee, however this doesn’t mean that you have to take an official role.  We would really like to have more helpers to come up with ideas and support our fundraising events. The committee meets about four times a year. Outside of these meetings we communicate by email. Below is some information about these roles:

Committee roles:

Our committee is fairly informal, though as a Charity, we need to have official committee roles, minutes of meetings and properly reviewed accounts.  However, the committee works together, sharing any jobs that need to be done.

Chair

This person manages the committee meetings and makes sure that decisions are made on all agenda items.

Meeting secretary

This person works with the Chair to agree the agenda for the committee meetings and makes sure it’s sent out to members before the meeting; types up the minutes and circulates them after the meeting.

Bookings secretary

This person takes any bookings for the scout hut, this may involve showing people round, making sure booking forms are completed and payment is made, dealing with any correspondence for the booking, updating the bookings calendar.

Treasurer

This person is responsible for the Group’s accounts, dealing with payment of invoices, gift aid claims, making sure insurances etc are paid, and keeping the Group legal.

If you can help out at events or support our fundraising, please get in touch with your leader or email: Anne-Marie Delrosa or call 07548 262 413

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
