Welcoming the Next Generation of Leaders
Stroud Valley Scouts Invest New Young Leaders and Celebrate the Next Generation of Leadership

Before Christmas, Stroud Valley Scouts were proud to invest three new Young Leaders — Dylan, Saxon, and Henry — marking an exciting new chapter in their Scouting journey and an important moment for the group.
Young Leaders are Explorer Scouts aged 14–18 who volunteer alongside adult leaders to support younger sections such as Cubs and Scouts. During their time as Young Leaders, they develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and planning skills while gaining valuable experience that supports their personal development, education, and future careers.

Dylan and Saxon are volunteering across both Cubs and Scouts while also completing their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Henry is volunteering with the Scout Troop and is preparing to progress to his Silver DofE. Saxon is also a member of Trinity Explorers, combining Explorer Scouting with volunteering as a Young Leader.

For many Young Leaders, this role is a chance to continue their Scouting journey after Scouts, give back to the group, and help ensure younger members have access to the same opportunities they enjoyed themselves.
“It’s brilliant to see former Scouts continuing their Scouting journey as Young Leaders. They understand what Scouting means to young people and are keen to help ensure today’s Scouts have access to the same opportunities they did. Having them involved is a huge benefit to the Troop.”

“Our Young Leaders do an incredible amount at Cubs. They support activities, help keep things running smoothly, and are fantastic role models for the Cubs. Their enthusiasm and willingness to help plays a big part in the success of the Cub Pack.”

“It’s fantastic to see these future leaders of Stroud Valley developing leadership skills that will support them throughout life, work, and further education. We hope this is just the beginning of a long volunteering journey and that they’ll continue to support Scouting as adult volunteers in the future.”
Congratulations to Dylan, Saxon, and Henry on becoming Young Leaders. We’re incredibly proud to have them as part of the team and look forward to seeing the impact they’ll continue to make.
