Our Values

At Stroud Valley Scouts, our values guide everything we do — from weekly meetings and exciting activities to how we support families and contribute to our local community. We believe Scouting should help every young person gain skills for life while making a positive difference to the world around them.

Our values are derived from those officially published by The Scouts Association. You can learn more using the links below to the Scouts UK website — or read on to explore how we express these values within Stroud Valley Scouts.

Our Core Values

Integrity

We act with honesty, responsibility and respect. Young people learn to make good decisions, take ownership of their actions and support one another — qualities that help them in school, work and life.

Respect

We treat everyone with kindness and understanding. Stroud Valley Scouts welcomes young people and adults from all backgrounds and abilities. Everyone has a place here, and everyone is valued.

Care

We look after ourselves, each other and the environment. Our group teaches practical skills alongside empathy, teamwork and wellbeing. We encourage young people to help their local community, protect nature and act responsibly.

Belief

We help young people discover what they believe in — about themselves and the world. Through challenges, reflection and achievement, we support young people to gain confidence, self-belief and motivation.

Co-operation

We work together to achieve more. From team games to big group projects, Scouting teaches collaboration, leadership and communication. We celebrate teamwork and the power of helping others.

Our Commitment to the Local Community

Stroud Valley Scouts is proud to be part of the wider Stroud community. We believe in giving back and helping young people become active citizens who make a real difference.

Our young people regularly take part in:

  • Community events and local celebrations
  • Charity support and fundraising activities
  • Environmental projects and conservation work
  • Partnerships with schools, organisations and local businesses

These experiences not only benefit the community but help young people grow into responsible, confident and compassionate individuals.

Why Our Values Matter to Sponsors & Supporters

Our values shape the positive outcomes we deliver for young people — and for the community. Support from individuals and businesses helps us:

  • Keep Scouting affordable and accessible for all families
  • Provide high-quality equipment, activities and safe spaces
  • Maintain and improve our halls, outdoor areas and facilities
  • Offer life-changing experiences to children who need them most

When you support Stroud Valley Scouts, you’re investing in young people who will grow up to make a real difference in the world — starting here in the Stroud Valley.
