Our sections (ages 4–18)

Stroud Valley Scout Group offers Scouting for young people from early years through to young adulthood. Sections are organised by age, so activities are right for each stage — from first adventures in Squirrels through to independence and leadership in Explorers.

Which section is right for my child?

Squirrels (ages 4–6) – coming soon

We’re excited to be planning Squirrels, our newest section for young people aged 4–6.

Squirrels will focus on fun, friendship and first adventures. Activities will include games, crafts, outdoor play and simple challenges.

Beavers (ages 6–8)

Beavers enjoy adventurous activities, teamwork and learning new skills in a fun, supportive environment.

The programme includes games, badges and simple outdoor challenges that encourage curiosity and confidence.

Cubs (ages 8–10½)

Cubs try new things and begin to build independence.

Activities, challenges and camps help develop teamwork, confidence and practical skills.

Scouts (ages 10½–14)

Scouts take on bigger challenges and enjoy greater independence.

Through outdoor activities, skills and camps, they build confidence, responsibility and strong friendships.

Explorers (ages 14–18)

Explorers plan and lead much of their own programme.

They take part in adventurous activities and develop skills for life, including leadership and teamwork.

Joining Stroud Valley Scouts

Young people usually move up from the section below, but it’s also possible to join directly if spaces are available.

We’ll help every new member settle in, feel welcome and get the most from their time with us.
