Cubs is for young people aged 8–10½ who are ready for more adventure, more independence and more chances to try new things with friends.
They build on the fun of Beavers with extra challenges, new skills and plenty of chances to explore the outdoors.
Cubs get involved in a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities. Across the year, the programme might include:
Cubs can earn a huge range of badges and awards, including the Chief Scout’s Silver Award, by joining in, supporting others and trying their best.
New Cubs usually join from Beavers or from our waiting list. If your child hasn’t been involved in Scouts before, that’s absolutely fine — we’ll help them settle in.
We want Cubs to be accessible to as many families as possible.
Full details about subs, how to pay, uniform and the financial support we can offer are on our Parent Information page.
As Cubs get older, they start getting ready to move up to Scouts (10½–14 years).
We make moving on feel like a natural step — with joint activities, visits to Scouts and plenty of time to get to know the next section.
If you’d like to add your child to the waiting list or find out about spaces in Cubs, please use our online Join & Volunteer form.
