Join the Team: Flexible Volunteer Roles Available
New Volunteer Opportunities at Stroud Valley Scouts
We’ve recently updated the Stroud Valley Scouts website, including refreshed content and an updated Vacancies page, and we’d love to encourage more people to take a look.
At Stroud Valley Scouts, we are one team working together to give young people across Stroud the best possible opportunities. Everything we do is powered by volunteers who create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where young people can learn new skills, build confidence, and have fun.
Following a successful period of recruitment, we’re now looking to continue growing our volunteer team. Our volunteer culture is open to everyone — regardless of age, background, experience, or stage of life. Whether you’re studying, working full-time, raising a family, or partly or fully retired, there is a way to get involved that fits around your life.
Volunteering with Stroud Valley Scouts is flexible by design. Some people support a section occasionally, even if they can only offer around an hour a month. Others help behind the scenes with administration or organisation alongside work or family commitments. Some volunteers prefer practical roles, lending a hand with cleaning or site support when time allows, while others with more availability choose to get involved in regular site maintenance and improvement work.
However you choose to help, you become part of a supportive team. All volunteers are guided by a team lead and our Group Lead Volunteers, so you’re never expected to do everything on your own. We’ll always work with you to find a role that matches your interests, availability, and confidence.
Volunteering with Stroud Valley Scouts is rewarding in many ways. You’ll be helping young people gain skills for life, while also benefiting personally through connection, purpose, and time spent doing something positive in your local community. Many of our volunteers value the friendships they build and the chance to step away from busy day-to-day routines.
There are also wider benefits to volunteering as part of the Scout Association. Volunteers have access to training and learning opportunities, personal accident and liability insurance while volunteering, and a range of discounts and offers through Scout benefit schemes. And of course, there’s the chance to join in the fun alongside our young people at meetings, activities, and events.
As a group, we also believe in saying thank you. Each year, Stroud Valley Scouts runs two social events to thank our volunteers for their contribution and to provide time to relax, socialise, and celebrate what we achieve together.
Whether you’re looking to give something back, meet new people, develop new skills, or simply be part of something positive, volunteering with Stroud Valley Scouts can fit around you and the life you lead.
If you’ve ever considered getting involved, now is a great time to take that first step and find out how you could be part of the team.
