Stroud Valley Scout Group celebrates opening of refurbished listed building
Stroud Valley Scout Group celebrated the opening of its grade 2 listed Coach House in Hollow Lane. The building has been fully refurbished over the last 9 months, after successful bids for grant funding including £87k from the Severn Trent Community Fund and £5k from the Bernard Sunley Charitable Trust.
The refurbished building has a new roof, double glazed windows, has been fully insulated, along with new flooring, new kitchen, bathroom and shower cubicle. It is available for meetings, workshops and small events, with a capacity to seat 20 people.
The building was opened by Stroud Mayor, Cllr Tony Davey.
Karl Durr-Sorensen, Chair of Stroud Valley Scout Group, said: “This has been a huge labour of love by the whole team involved in the refurbishment. We’re very grateful to our funders and to our builders Roger and Kai Hunt. The building will be available to hire from December onwards.”
Jade Gough, Community Fund Officer at Severn Trent added: ‘’It’s been fantastic to support Stroud Valley Scout Group with this project and see their plans come to life, bringing the building back into use for the community for years to come. The hard work they’ve put in and the support the community has given really shows how much the building means to local people.’’
