Leaders from Stroud Valley Scout Group and Severnside Scout Group meeting to share ideas and collaborate

Supporting Scouting Across the District

On Wednesday evening, Stroud Valley Scout Group was delighted to welcome Mike and Vicki,
the new Group Lead Volunteers from Severnside Scout Group, for an evening of discussion,
collaboration and idea sharing.

Mike and Vicki have recently taken on the challenge of leading Severnside Scout Group and
are working hard to rejuvenate and grow the group, ensuring that more young people can
experience the adventures and opportunities that Scouting provides.

Representing Stroud Valley Scout Group were Aaron Young, Group Lead Volunteer and Scout
Team Lead, Sammy, Group Lead Volunteer and Beaver Team Lead, and Aimee, Cub Team Lead.
Together, the teams spent the evening chatting at length about their experiences,
discussing challenges and opportunities, and brainstorming ideas that could help both
groups continue to thrive.

The evening was a fantastic opportunity to share practical advice, explore different
approaches to volunteer recruitment, programme planning and group development, and
strengthen the relationship between our two Scout Groups. Scouting is at its best when
volunteers support one another, and it was inspiring to see so many ideas being shared
around the table.

We are pleased to be able to offer ongoing mentoring and support to Mike and Vicki as
they continue their journey with Severnside Scout Group and look forward to seeing the
positive impact they will undoubtedly make.

Looking ahead, we hope this will be the start of an even closer partnership between our
groups. Discussions are already underway about potential joint activities and events,
giving young people and volunteers from both groups the opportunity to work together,
make new friends and enjoy new adventures.

We wish Mike, Vicki and everyone at Severnside Scout Group every success for the future
and look forward to working together in the months and years ahead.
